River Check

Effective 12 September 2026 · Version 2026-09-12

River Check terms and subscription conditions

River Check is operated in trade by Cadence Fly Fishing NZ Limited. These terms apply when you use River Check or purchase River Check Plus.

1. The service

River Check presents measured river-flow information and adds original planning tools including flow bands, trends, weather context, personal thresholds, saved river groups, Fresh Watch, alerts and scheduled reports. River Check does not sell or claim ownership of source measurements.

River Check is a planning aid. It is not official flood, navigation, access or personal-safety advice and is not a substitute for current regulations, official warnings, landowner permission or assessment at the water.

2. Accounts and free access

You must provide accurate account information, keep your sign-in details secure and tell us promptly about suspected unauthorised use. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless it results from a failure by River Check to use reasonable care.

River Flow Free includes available current flow readings, observation times, freshness information, source attribution and safety notices for one Fish & Game region chosen by the member. River Check may change how free features are presented, but will not deliberately hide legally required attribution or safety information.

3. River Check Plus plans, prices and GST

Cadence Fly Fishing NZ Limited is not GST registered. These are the complete prices charged by River Check and no GST is included or added. If that tax status changes, River Check will update the price information and give any notice required before a later charge.

The Season Pass does not renew automatically. Checkout shows the amount, included access, purchase deadline, access end date and renewal status before purchase.

4. Trial access

Through 31 October 2026, members receive open access across all available Fish & Game regions and choose one home region for River Flow Free. Accounts that were already promised open access through 30 November 2026 retain that access. New members joining from 1 November 2026 receive a 14-day River Check Plus trial across all available regions and also choose a home region. No payment details are required and access does not automatically become a paid plan. Unless the member actively purchases a plan, the account continues with its chosen River Flow Free region when open access or the trial ends.

5. Payments, renewal and switching

Stripe processes River Check payments. Monthly Plus renews automatically each month using the payment method supplied to Stripe. A monthly member may switch to the Season Pass while the pass remains on sale. Season Pass access begins immediately after successful payment and the monthly renewal is stopped automatically. The unused part of the current monthly period is not ordinarily credited for a voluntary switch.

Paid access is activated and updated from verified Stripe notifications. A browser return page or payment screenshot does not by itself establish payment. If a recurring payment fails, River Check may notify you, allow time to update the payment method, and restrict River Check Plus access when Stripe reports that paid access has ended.

6. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel Monthly Plus online from Membership and billing. Cancellation stops the next renewal; access normally continues through the end of the current paid period and there is no cancellation fee. The Season Pass ends automatically and does not need to be cancelled.

Our cancellation and refund policy explains change-of-mind requests, billing mistakes and service remedies. Nothing in these terms or that policy limits any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, Fair Trading Act 1986 or other New Zealand law.

7. Plan and service changes

A price change applies only after clear advance notice. A new Season Pass price does not alter a pass already purchased. Monthly members will be told the new price and effective renewal date and may cancel before it applies.

River Check may improve, replace or discontinue features where reasonably necessary. If a change materially reduces a paid service already purchased, River Check will provide any remedy required by law and will consider an appropriate extension, credit or refund.

8. Environmental information and availability

Measurements may be provisional, delayed, revised, unavailable or affected by equipment, communications and third-party service failures. Gauges may not represent tributaries, ungauged reaches, clarity, debris, access, hazards or conditions between monitoring sites. River Check displays source and observation-age information where available.

9. Acceptable use and intellectual property

You must not misuse accounts, interfere with the service, bypass access controls, systematically extract restricted material, or redistribute River Check's original service as a competing product. Reasonable personal use and ordinary sharing of a river link are permitted.

Source measurements remain subject to their providers' rights and terms. Cadence Fly Fishing NZ Limited owns or licenses the River Check brand, software, page design, original writing, flow interpretations and other original service material.

10. Consumer rights and responsibility

Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to those rights and to the extent permitted by law, River Check is not responsible for a decision made solely from environmental data or a planning indicator, or for an outage outside its reasonable control. You remain responsible for checking current official information and conditions relevant to your trip.

11. Privacy

Our privacy statement explains how Cadence Fly Fishing NZ Limited collects, uses, stores and shares personal information for River Check, including account and Stripe billing identifiers.

12. Contact, complaints and governing law

These terms are governed by New Zealand law. Questions, cancellation assistance or complaints can be sent to info@cadenceflyfishing.co.nz or to Cadence Fly Fishing NZ Limited, West Melton, New Zealand. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve the issue.
